Brandon Savage, Senior VP of Customer Experience and Operations at Alarm Capital Alliance, says he uses the IQ Panel at home.  “I’m a strong believer in interactive services” he told Leif Kothe of Security System News.

“I’m always eager to experiment with the latest innovative equipment that’s about to be released. I’m always interested in seeing improvements to the customer experience and user interfaces, not only for our end users, but also for our wide variety of technical partners we have in the field. Any product that can make installation quicker and easier and minimize truck rolls has a huge ROI for us.”

Qolsys, a new home security/automation manufacturer that launched at ISC West last month is now creatiing its “Founders Program,” according to Ken Arnold. I expect to learn more about the program this week,  but Ken Arnold told me it’ll be the basis of the start-up’s dealer program.

At this point, Qolsys has “50 to 70 dealers” that it’s shipping panels to for beta testing. Shipping for sale starts soon, he said.

What is your background? How did you get into the Security Industry?

Prior to starting Qolsys I was at eBay for 10 years. I spent a lot of time following consumer trends, including online and the fast growing mobile segment. Not exactly a security industry veteran; however, as customers and casual industry observers growing up in Silicon Valley, we noticed an opportunity to raise the bar in the residential security space. As outsiders we had no preconceived notions of what a security panel should look or act like, except that end users were ready for something more, similar to their smartphones and tablets. By leveraging these consumer trends and re-architecting the typical security state machine into an open compute platform we are able to bring to market an intuitive, attractive and robust solution that looks and acts more like a consumer friendly tablet but designed specifically for the security industry and the growing home control market.Continue reading
