Press Release: Johnson Controls Announces IQ WiFi 6

Mesh Router Delivers Purpose Built Network Experience and Dealer Remote Connectivity For Smart, Secure Homes and Businesses

Johnson Controls, the global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, announces the IQ WiFi 6, a new purpose-built mesh router solution for homes and businesses with security, automation and Wi-Fi devices. The IQ WiFi 6 is a Wi-Fi Alliance Certified router with Alarm.com management software built in, delivering improved end-to-end user experience and reduced dealer maintenance, support calls and truck rolls.

"When I ask customers about their greatest challenges the answer is always the same: Wi-Fi and networking related issues," says Johnson Controls VP and General Manager Dave Pulling. "Wi-Fi devices like video cameras have become critical components in security systems and our integrated solution with Alarm.com solves this.”

When paired with the IQ Panel, the IQ WiFi 6 delivers a unified security and Wi-Fi network throughout the site that can be managed and maintained by end users and service providers through the panel’s 7” touchscreen, iOS and Android mobile apps, and the Alarm.com website and Partner Portal.

“We are excited to partner closely with Qolsys to bring this innovative Wi-Fi router solution to market,” said Dan Kerzner, Chief Product Officer, Alarm.com. “The IQ WiFi 6 combines best-in-class home network Wi-Fi technology together with a tight integration between the Alarm.com platform and the Qolsys solution. We expect the IQ WiFi 6 to help the professional security channel deliver greater reliability, value, and the best possible customer experience to property owners."

The IQ WiFi 6 has four network partitions, including a guest network and a network dedicated to the end-user's Wi-Fi devices, both of which automatically switch between 2.4 and 5 GHz to optimize range, speed, and performance. It also includes two private partitions dedicated to service providers professionally managing security and smart home devices to avoid end users accidentally disrupting the connectivity of security-related devices. Additional tools like remote WPS will allow dealers to streamline installation by connecting devices to the nearest node while being able to select the appropriate network for optimal performance. Built-in remote management features, via Alarm.com, allow users and service providers to remotely view and configure the network and keep it performing at its best while remotely resolving issues should they occur.  IQ WiFi 6 leverages The Qualcomm® Networking Pro 400, a highly flexible Wi-Fi 6 platform designed to meet the growing demands of increasingly crowded and dense Wi-Fi environments.

IQ WiFi 6 will be demonstrated at the International Security Convention (ISC West) in Las Vegas, NV in March 2022.  Product availability in the United States, Canada, and select international markets is scheduled for Summer of 2022.
